About Our Client
Our client is a small group of dynamic and rapidly growing companies operating across several jurisdictions. Their Malta-based business provides exceptional business administrative and accounting services to the group companies. They are now seeking a Full-Time Accountant to strengthen their finance function with professional expertise and hands-on support.
About The Role:
The Accountant will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of their financial records. This role suits a qualified accountant or a professional with equivalent experience who is comfortable working independently and delivering high-quality outputs within agreed deadlines.The ideal candidate will be confident in handling end-to-end accounting processes, supporting management with meaningful analysis, and ensuring compliance with local regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Financial Management & Reporting
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting records across ledgers.
- Prepare monthly management accounts and other periodic financial reports.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Ensure timely preparation and submission of group-level financial data.
2. Accounts Payable & Receivable
- Oversee the processing and approval of supplier invoices and payments.
- Manage customer invoicing and credit control.
- Ensure reconciliation of AP and AR balances and resolve discrepancies promptly.
3. Tax Compliance
- Prepare and submit VAT returns and other statutory filings.
- Support corporate tax compliance by preparing necessary schedules and liaising with tax advisors.
- Maintain awareness of Maltese accounting and tax requirements.
4. Bank & Balance Sheet Reconciliation
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations.
- Reconcile all key balance sheet accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
5. Advisory & Process Improvement
- Provide financial insights to management to support decision-making.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, efficiency, and financial controls.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Education: Qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA, CPA) or equivalent experience.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years in a similar role, preferably in a multi-entity environment.
- Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in accounting software; SAP experience is an advantage. Advanced MS Excel skills.
- Soft Skills: High attention to detail, strong analytical abilities, excellent organizational skills, and effective communication.
Additional Requirements:
- Strong knowledge of Maltese accounting regulations and tax laws.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Professional integrity and discretion in handling confidential information.
Work Environment:
- Full-time role with flexible hours (to be agreed with the successful candidate).
